A Piece of Peace

My art represents the emotions I can’t express through words. The ability to create is one of the greatest gifts I’ve been given. A lot of my older art was fueled by pain or confusion because I only found comfort in expressing myself through images. I realized that I could simply show people what I felt instead of struggling to find the right words. 

Today, I am still using that gift, yet instead of pain and confusion, most of my art is inspired and driven by my extreme gratitude and happiness I’ve found in sobriety and a Higher Power. I see things in a different light now. I work with a lot of different mediums and plan to experiment and learn how to use many more. There are infinite ideas, images, feelings, and messages I still need to put down on paper or canvas. I like to think a piece of my soul is preserved in every piece of art I make (which is why I like making art and giving it away to those I love).

It’s important to have a spiritual outlet like art. Not only are you putting yourself out into the world, you’re also allowing others to come and interpret, observe, relate, and appreciate what you have created. It’s a very vulnerable and beautiful thing for me. I plan to continue creating for the rest of my life – especially now that I know peace and a Higher Power. I’d like to share whatever I can with the world.
