July 2020 Newsletter
We are all in this together.
Yes, we are in quarantine, yet Hope Creates continues with our mission, programs and events. As Peter Grinspoon, M.D. said in Harvard Health Blog, "Two great epidemics of our generation are intersecting in ways that are additively deadly, and which highlight the urgent ways we must respond." Hope Creates continues to fight relapse and aggressively respond to the new information that fatal drug overdoses rose in 2019, reversing previous year's dip.
We ended our fiscal year on June 30, 2020. Thanks to the generosity of all of you – our donors, sponsors, and volunteers – we were able to end our fiscal year with a positive fund balance. This will enable us to continue our work with our youth and youth adult members, supporting their sobriety through our vibrant expressive arts community, face the challenges of COVID phase two, and combat the rising overdose rates.
We have virtual and live events on our schedule. Yes, we are challenged by COVID, yet we will not be beaten by it.
The COVID Collection
Our first live virtual exhibition – The COVID Collection – was a great success. You can still watch our Facebook Live event. We plan to do more virtual events and Expressive Arts Exhibitions this year. Stay tuned for more innovative approaches to come.
