Visitors to the Expressive Arts Exhibitions interpret photography taken by Young Sober Artists

Expressive Arts Exhibitions

Often, the cultural lens through which individuals view Substance Use Disorder and recovery is based on misunderstanding, stigmatization, secrecy, and shame. With more than 23 million people over age 12 engaging in alcohol and/or drug use, these negative views are counterproductive to encouraging recovery. Through our Expressive Arts Exhibitions, we work to bridge the gap in understanding Substance Use Disorder and recovery and transform the cultural dialogue.

Hope Creates’ Expressive Arts Exhibitions are professional-level art exhibitions. We work with artists and nonprofits across St. Louis region to develop artwork in diverse media. Exhibitors must have one year of sobriety or more to sign their work with their first name and last initial. Artwork by artists with less than one year sober is anonymous. We strive to create a professional gallery space, presenting the work with frames, pedestals, lighting, and museum-style art tags.
